I am a pharmacy student, and I have done some research on garcinia cambogia, so I would be happy to give you some information regarding the product.

I have reviewed some studies that were done on garcinia cambogia, and the evidence does not seem favorable. It seems the only trials that showed significant weight loss were those that also implemented diet and exercise requirements. Even in one study that I reviewed, individuals that were taking garcinia showed no more weight loss than in individuals taking placebo (which is a product containing no active drug at all).

Also, an analysis was published that looked at a large number of studies that have been published for garcinia combogia, and this analysis showed that garcinia resulted in an average weight loss of only ~2 pounds. It is also important to note, that this analysis found that the ~2 pound weight loss was only a short-term benefit and there was no long-term weight loss from the product.

In addition, high doses of garcinia combogia seem to be associated with slightly more weight loss but also more side effects, which includes gas, dysepsia/GI side effects, rash, headache.

Therefore, garcinia cambogia does not seem to be associated with significant weight loss. Instead, the best way to safely and healthily lose weight is through diet and exercise. I know diet and exercise can be challenging, but you just have to find what type of exercise works best for you!
